The Post Zero Covid Chinese Policy Impact In Executive Search

According to a report by the China International Electronic Commerce Center, the Executive Search industry in China is expected to reach a market size of RMB 190 billion ($28.6 billion) by 2022. This represents a significant increase from the RMB 120 billion ($18.1 billion) market size reported in 2017.

Since the adoption of the “zero Covid” policy in China and now its exit from the latter, the Executive Search industry has continued to thrive, with companies seeking top talent to lead their organizations in the post-pandemic world. The zero Covid policy, which aims to eliminate all cases of Covid-19 within the country, has created new opportunities and challenges for consultants operating in China.

One of the main challenges for consultants in China is the increasing competition for top talent. With the economy showing signs of recovery, many companies are looking to hire top executives and specialists to drive their growth. This has led to a high demand for talented professionals, making it more difficult for consultants to identify and recruit the best candidates.

Executive search services as enabler in China

To meet this challenge, executive consultants in China have had to adapt their strategies and use a variety of tools and techniques to attract top talent. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are also increasingly turning to executive consultants to help them identify and recruit specialized talent, with the use of executive search services among SMEs growing by 10% annually. This includes using social media and online platforms to reach a wider pool of candidates, as well as leveraging their networks and relationships to identify potential candidates. Consultants have also had to be more creative in their approach to recruiting, using a range of incentives and benefits to attract top talent.

Another challenge for executive search in China is the changing nature of work in the post-pandemic world. With the widespread adoption of remote work and the increasing importance of digital skills, consultants have had to adapt to these changes and find ways to identify and recruit candidates with the right skills and experience.

Nevertheless, the executive search industry in China remains strong, as businesses continue to rely on top talent to drive innovation and growth. With the right strategies and tools, executive search in China can continue to successfully identify and recruit top talent in the post-pandemic world.

Difficulties in executive search

In addition to the challenges outlined above, executive search in China also face a number of other factors that can impact their ability to successfully recruit top talent. One of these is the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation in the recruiting process. Many companies are now using AI-powered tools to identify and screen candidates, which can make it more difficult for executive search to differentiate themselves and stand out in the market.

To address this issue, executive search in China have had to embrace technology and leverage AI-powered tools to streamline their processes and improve their efficiency. This includes using tools like chatbots and applicant tracking systems to automate routine tasks, as well as using data analytics to better understand the needs and preferences of potential candidates.

Another factor that has impacted the executive search industry in China is the increasing focus on corporate social responsibility (CSR). With the rise of social media and the growing importance of sustainability and environmental issues, many companies are looking for leaders who are committed to CSR and who can help drive positive change within their organizations. This has led to a shift in the types of candidates that executive search in China are targeting, with a greater emphasis on candidates who possess strong leadership skills and a commitment to CSR.

Despite these challenges, the executive search industry in China remains robust and continues to play a critical role in the country’s economic development. With the right strategies and tools, executive search in China can continue to successfully identify and recruit top talent in the post-pandemic world, helping businesses to drive innovation and growth in the years ahead. So, the zero Covid policy has not only created new opportunities but also new challenges for the executive search industry in China. To overcome these challenges, executive search consutants must adapt their strategies, embrace technology, and focus on corporate social responsibility.
